Eastbourne is a relatively new town, but the geographical area is historically important, and it happens to be one of the most beautiful locations in the South East. Situated a handy short distance from Brighton, it is an increasingly popular tourist attraction and, as we shall see, a great place to go and explore with all the family, at any time of year.

Before you plan your trip to Eastbourne, you will want to know exactly what you can expect to see and do there. As it happens, there is quite a lot which might end up on your list, and you might find it a struggle to whittle them down to just a few. Nearby the town itself is Beachy Head, a famous area of the coast and the UK’s highest chalk sea cliff. If you intend to go here, you will actually find that it is the setting of many of your favourite scenes from TV and film. If your children are Harry Potter fans, for example, they will recognise this area as relating to certain quidditch scenes from the fourth film. Eastbourne is also home to a number of stunning and luxurious parks, which make it a great location for any summer afternoons out you might have planned. If you are thinking of having a picnic, you are going to be somewhat spoilt for choice, with a number of beautiful parks in the area being available. One particularly stunning option is the Princes Park, a great place to just go and relax while letting the children feed the ducks. Or if you would rather be by the beach instead, you have even more to choose from – with the Holywell Retreat Beach being a great choice for families of all sizes. Here, you can expect beautiful sandy beaches as well as rock pools and even a little cafe, so everyone in the family will be catered for. Who doesn’t love to visit the beach?

If you or any of your family have an interest in the history of the town, the Marina is a great place to spend a day. It has a fascinating museum and educational facilities, but also a good array of shops and cafes, making it a whole day out in itself for most families.
