Brighton is a vibrant and colourful city on the South Coast of Sussex, a wonderful and popular place for families to visit with kids!

Brighton is a sunny English seaside resort town, just a short hour train ride from London. It’s been popular for families with kids for many years, mainly due to the wide variety of activities available here. The town has always been a wonderful little holiday resort, perfect for a weekend getaway or even an extended stay. Whether you’re looking to take a dip in the ocean, enjoy a day out with the family or share a delicious meal together, Brighton is certainly the place to be. 

Down By The Sea

Arguably the best reason to visit Brighton is for the beach. The golden stretch of sand that curves around the town attracts thousands of tourists every year. On a hot summer day, you will be hard pressed to find a single patch of sand that doesn’t have a family sunbathing or perhaps building a sand castle. It’s a beautiful, clean beach with plenty of shells scattered around for kids to collect and the perfect sand for laying back on. On particular hot days you wil also people frolicking in the shallow waters. The sandy shore gets deeper very gradually deeper, so it’s the perfect place for young kids to have a paddle. 

Of course, the beach also makes a beautiful place for a walk as the sun begins to set. When the sun sinks beneath the ocean, it looks rather dazzling. 

On The Pier

Not too far from the beach, you will discover Brighton Pier and kids are going to love it here. Brighton Pier is packed full of amusement park attractions for the whole family to enjoy. You can try your luck winning a prize at one of the many activity stalls. Or, you can take a trip up on the big wheel and get a stunning view of the entire town. If heights aren’t your cup of tea, you are sure to find a few classic arcade activities here such as bumper cars, or perhaps a carousel. The rides are open seasonally so be sure to check whether you’re going at the right time before you take a trip here. 

Wild Wonders

You’ll find plenty of chances to explore different types of wildlife with the kids in Brighton. Be sure to take a trip to the aquarium where you’ll see a whole variety of different fish and even some Stingray! If you’re lucky, you might time your trip around feeding time, and that’s a sight that you won’t want to miss. If you’re willing to venture a little further afield you can head to other places like the local zoo. Widely known as one of the best small tropical views, you’ll find everything from pandas to penguins here. Well, red pandas but the little creatures that look more like foxes are still ridiculously adorable.

Discover Natural History

There are plenty of museums scattered through Brighton, but arguably the best is the natural history museum. This is packed full of ancient artifacts, and it even has a few dinosaur skeletons. Kids will be enthralled and dazzled by some of the incredible items on display here. The museum was founded in the late 1800s, but the collection reaches back far further than that, allowing you to explore a time when Wooly Mammoths roamed the British shores. 

Exciting Fun Filled Days

You’ll find plenty of other great activities that will enthrall and excite kids around Brighton too. How about a day of crazy minigolf? There are a couple of courses in the town that kids will love and parents are sure to have a great time too. Or, if you want to be a tad more adventurous a family of four could try their luck on an indoor climbing wall. As long as you are not afraid of heights, this can be great fun and a brilliant way to test your monkey skills. 

Dining The Day Away

Once you have explored all the different adventures in Brighton, you’ll probably want to try some of the local cuisines. Rest assured there are numerous restaurants here with delicious menus that the whole family will enjoy. You will find a number of the best food places are down by the pier, so make sure you visit one when you’ve spent a day on the beach. Or, head into the centre of town for a meal at one of the best restaurants, offering up a range of different delicacies.
